Permanent Jewelry Care
Share
Here are some tips for caring for permanent jewelry:
- Clean regularly. Use a soft-bristled brush and mild soap or dish soap with warm water to gently clean your jewelry. You can also use a jewelry polishing cloth.
- Avoid harsh chemicals. Avoid cleaning agents, chlorine, and certain cosmetics that can damage your jewelry.
- Be mindful of exposure. While permanent jewelry can be worn while bathing and swimming, prolonged exposure to saltwater or chlorinated water can damage it.
- Inspect regularly. Check your jewelry for damage or wear to prevent further damage.
- Be aware of your body chemistry. Sweat, sickness, and alcohol can change your body chemistry and cause silver jewelry to turn black. A light polish with a cloth can usually remove the discoloration.
- Consider re-sizing. Over time, your chain can stretch out and need to be re-welded and re-sized.
